    • Monochromatic paintings are made with one color and it’s tints and shades.
    When I was in the Appalachian Mountains on a motorcycle tour with my husband, I was inspired to design a lesson using a monochromatic color palette to represent a mountain range. Third graders took this one last year with amazing results (VIEW HERE), so I wanted to try it again. See the video I filmed from the back of the motorcycle below and the Monochromatic Fugleflick.

    Take a second to help the Dryden Art Program get a grant for styluses for the iPads so we can create like real artists!

  • 09/12/11--10:03: LEARNING perspective with The Scream (chan 2553935)

    • 4th graders traced lines over a photo to see how the edges of the railing on a bridge converge to a vanishing point (See video below) as they prepare to recreate Edvard Munch’s The Scream. Students also collected adjectives to describe Munch’s artwork and we combined these into one Wordle below.

  • 09/16/11--05:53: iPad Possibilities! (chan 2553935)

    • I learned that you can use the Brushes App on an iPad to digitally match colors and textures from a painting to “wipe out” a section. Then if you have a PNG with transparency, the image can be imported and layered over the painting. Here, let me show you what I’m talking about here:
